Basking in the Warmth of the Sun Rays

IMG_2335

Here I was last week babbling on about how fake-cold a winter it is in the SE and we got blasted this weekend by some teeth chattering winds. So much for baring my legs - I can do 40s and even high 30s for short periods, but exposing my gams in 20-something degree weather, no thank you!

Now when winter is finally rubbing its hands together and giving me a big ole "I'll show you, lady" pretty much all across the US, I of course can't get spring out of my head. Filmy frocks in pastel-y shades, preppy pedis, bouncy ponytails, ankle-strapped sandal-y goodness.

I'm dreaming of picnics in the park, planting a rainbow of pretty new flowers, bouncing over big wet puddles in my rain boots, sunning myself on my patio, standing outside licking a big ole ice cream cone - sure these are all the things I've never done in real life due to a multitude of reasons mosquitoes, not having a green thumb, no enjoyment in getting wet, freckling but that sound really swell right now as I dig out my gloves and scarves.

I have to admit to already having indulged myself in a few spring-y new frocks (not to mention my bulging full spring wishlist of colorful sandals and shorts that I am sitting on my hands on because it'll be no time soon that I'd have a chance to wear those items):

What's on your spring sartorial wishlist? Have you already started making purchases for your warmer weather wardrobe? Or what existing items in your wardrobe are you anticipating to being able to bust out of your closet?

    1. I love boots but I'm short and find it hard to find boots that don't make me seem even shorter!

    1. You? Yes! I think you can totally rock a red blazer, and if the styling is classic, it won't ever go out of style. Talk about a simple way to make a statement!

  4. Hey hon, I am still jonesing for ankle length booties. I'd also like to pink a striped blazer, like yours. A neon yellow sweater, and a thick gold chain. But I will be thrifting all these items so it may take a long time. ;)

    1. I bet you can find gold chains easily - if you like shopping online, I know there are a ton of options on Etsy.

  5. It was also freezing here the last few days and there's NO way I could do bare legs! I am dying to buy spring clothes but it's hard to think about spring when I'm wearing a parka. March can't get here fast enough!

  10. I like how so many people turn to bright, spring-like colors when it's freezing outside ;) Love this color combo, Lisa!

I think I'm going to put off buying spring clothes until the first wave of sales hit. Otherwise, I'll just be depressed of beautiful items that I can't yet wear.

    1. I've got a ton of items that I am holding off on buying because I can't wear them yet and I think (hope) they will hit sale in the next few weeks. These guys I did get were things I either got a % discount off of, found for a steal, or just "had to have it." So yes, now I stare at them and sad sigh ...

  13. wow I love the color combo of your outfit! beautiful!

I had a quick question about the chambray polka dot dress by Pim and Larkin that is featured in the photo of your recent purchases. Could you please give a brief review of the dress? I've been eyeing it myself, and wondered how the fit and quality is? Thank you!

    1. Hi Adeline - I got the dress in XS and I am typically a 2/2P, fit is TTS in my opinion. The material is 100% cotton and it is definitely light like a shirt material would be, but it isn't sheer at all. I'm 5'2" and the dress hits about an inch above my knee. It is pretty narrow in the bodice and down the hips, so if you have a larger bust and/or hips, you may want to size up one. Plus it is cotton, so I don't know how badly it will shrink in the wash. Since Piperlime offers free ship and returns (plus 15% off, ends today!), I'd recommend getting your normal size plus one size up just for comparison - you'd definitely need one size up if you want it to look slouchy like the product model does. Hope this helps, let me know if you have more Qs!
