Oh My Me My

IMG_8845

In this busy non-stop world of over-time, endless appointments, practices, parties, classes, texting, Tweeting, connecting connecting connecting, do we have time for ourselves anymore?

I'm not talking about the few moments we get to spend with our families or friends - though that's special and rare in its own right - I'm talking about that completely selfish, doing something specifically for no one but myself, who benefits no one but me time.

What do I like to do for my me time? Surprisingly, lately it has been working out - I'm more effective when I'm by myself and not worrying about looking like a complete idiot. Exercising after work has been a great stress reliever when I'm too concerned about inhaling and exhaling to worry about deadlines or projects. I also like to surf the Internet with the Real Housewives on in the background, doing my nails, reading a few pages before bed each night, even plucking my eyebrows - these are the things that take but a few moments of time but are completely self-indulgent and offer a few moments of respite in a busy week.

So what's your me time?

  2. My me time is normally spent shopping or watching girly TV. Totally lame, but it is what helps me slow down mentally after a busy day!

  3. OMG I love this outfit! It's so simple but it's the little details that are making it so interesting for me like the pop of colour in the shoes, the flower pin and the bracelets. LOOOVE!

Me time...good question. I don't have a lot of that these days and I really should figure something where I just spend time with me! Working out would be a good solution, kill 2 birds with 1 stone!

  4. You're so cute- I love the pop of color in the shoes, bracelet, and flower :) I work out for myself. Other than that, I don't have too much me time to be honest...it's sad.

  5. I LOVE this outfit on you! It's classic and makes me smile just looking at it!

My me time would have to be after baby is asleep for the night and I can go have a pedicure. Mmm... methinks it's time to go again tonight!

  6. You look as stylish as ever in your cute outfit.

Me time....I should be at the gym, and I'm trying to motivate for walks. What I do is give myself the first hour in the morning after dropping of the kids. I make some coffee, read blogs, facebook, polyvore and Pinterest before I dig into phone calls, errands etc. Since I'm not a morning person, I like to ease into the day (when I can).

  8. You look so cozy and chic! :) Love the touches of red.
Hmm ... my "me time" choices include reading, going for a run, or taking photos.

  9. Yes you totally need time for YOU (away from the cell phone too)!

  10. First of all love the outfit. The pop of leopard and the bright red flower are ingenious and a classic mix.

As a mother and full time everything, I get no more pleasure than me time. Often times, when I get me time, I am so perplexed that I don't even know what to do with myself. Plucking my brows is def one, painting nails, watching endless episodes of SATC, going thrifting, catching up on fashion magazines, eating a ton of junk food, and treating myself to a me date of lunch and aimless wondering. Aw, now I want some me time . . . :-(

  12. Love how you layered the leopard blouse...I will have to keep this look in mind :)

  13. And that's why I still get up at 4am...it affords a little "me" time.
Thrifting is a great time for me too...I generally prefer to go alone and it affords me the chance to linger and poke.

    Looking beyond fabulous today~love this!

  14. Love the layering here, so cute!

I spend my me time reading, either my kindle or reading blogs while watching tv in the background. I was doing my nails once a week for a while but haven't done it once the whole month of October! I've been super busy at work, which leaves very little time for anything else. This post is a good reminder! :)

  15. Me time is a must! I like to do many "me" things, but probably my favourite is the few hours on Sunday afternoon that I have to myself while LG plays basketball. I like to wander around the shops near my house not necessarily buying anything each time but just walking around.

So, this outfit would be perfect for a Sunday afternoon. So casual yet so chic!

  16. I love the layering in this outfit and the little pops of red! Me time is usually watching my shows on the dvr, shopping, or doing a little DIY project around the house.

  17. Oooh, this outfit is so classy, and I love that splash of leopard.

Lately my "me" time has been in front of the TV catching up with Netflix/DVR, or else reading the Game of Thrones series. When the weather is nice I like a little bike ride, or a walk around the neighborhood to check out the garage sales!

  20. I used to think I didn't like animal prints, but you could change my mind with outfits like this. My "me" time is usually video games or reading. I don't have enough time though!

  21. JulieStyles - that's awesome, that's also like "catching up with life" time as well!

Frannie Pantz - ah yes, SATC, need to work that into my me time again!

Eleanor - I'm not a 4am-er, but I like getting up early on weekends while the BF (and pup) are still snoozing and do little things around the house - it is so nice and peaceful! BF is totally a night owl, so his me time is either playing video games or surfing the web late into the evenings.

blondeesquire - Boys don't realize how much time doing your own nails take! There's not only the whole concentrating so I don't paint my entire finger time, then the "I can't do a single useless thing because my nails are drying" time - aw, blissful. ;o)

Jessica - I wish I had the talent or patience to DIY anything. I went to Target two weeks ago and finally bought frames for a few prints I had, then hung them. That's about as close to a DIY that I've been getting to!

JewishGirlBlog - I've got to stay off the Netflix "watch it now" stuff because they've got a ton of old TV series on there. I never saw a single episode of Ghost Whisperer when it was on TV, but spent the better part of an entire weekend a few months ago watching, mostly to see Jennifer Love Hewitt's sometime nice-sometimes crazy outfits!

Lady Cardi - BF's me time totally involves video games. His recent obsession is Deus Ex - at least it's not Call of Duty anymore (though the new one is coming out in another few weeks - I'm like a video game widow on the weekends!)

  22. I absolutely LOVE the layered top look you've got going on here.
My next "me time" will be the run I've booked into my schedule for tomorrow. I might even include a bubble bath at some point!

  23. First of all- awesome layering, and I love your skinny jeans with the red heels! My me time is apparently enjoying spots of leopard, red, and yellow.

Well, yes, my me-time is spent roaming some pretty blogs with a giant cup of tea. And then I go for a run late at night (I really can`t any earlier than 9:30!_ and it does let me reflect on the day just past.

  24. I love the leopard layered under the sweater! Very pretty!
My "me" time is playing Words With Friends and spending time on Polyvore! :)

  25. I don't know why I love this outfit so much, but I do. Maybe it's the layers, maybe it's the unusual cut of the sweater. Lisa, can you be my personal shopper please?

  26. What a lovely outfit, you look very pretty.

  27. My me time is spent catching up on all the blogs I miss during the week. I usually like to hop on Wii Fit and watch shows I miss On Demand!!

I really like this outfit especially that sweater and your shoes!

  28. That's an adorable casual outfit. I covet the tops in particular! :)

'Me time' is walking my dog on the pretty trails adjacent to my neighborhood.

  29. I love this outfit! You look sassy today and your hair looks great. What a fun look :)

  30. My 'me' time is pretty much the same as yours - online shopping/Bravo/self-manicure/facial mask/ flipping through magazines all at once!
