It's Not Easy Being Green

I'm going to be a bit bloggy absent / mildly annoyed this week as I head out for a quick meeting on the west coast. Why annoyed? Because I will literally be on a plane for much longer than I will be on the ground for and will loose two days of work. Sooooo that's a wee bit annoying.

And personal annoyance number two? I need to get off the plane, hop in a car and show up to my meeting - which in my mind means my attire will probably resemble those clothes you wear, ball up and throw into the hamper - except they end up behind the hamper and weeks go by before you realize they're back there and by then they look like some permanently creased origami accident. I will resemble that.

So as I look through my wardrobe and realize that I have a penchant for cotton and pretty much anything else that will crumple on demand, I am going to cross my fingers and pack my outfit to change into later. Hoping that I'll have some time / the airport bathroom with not be heinous / my packed clothes don't themselves resemble used tissues so that I can rush in and change into my meeting outfit.

When you gals travel and need to immediately go do what you need to go when you hop off the plane, how do you coordinate that? Do you wear your outfit on the plane with you - if so, do you only choose specific pieces? Or do you do the airport bathroom scramble and go change?

Here's an outfit from last week:

  1. Hey I have a simlar coloured dress and I wear a slip under it too! It's my mom's old slip - it's so hard to find slips these days! Glad you found one on Etsy. I don't have to travel for work and it always sounds so glamourous but I guess really it's just living out of a suitcase which can't be very fun :( Hope the time passes quickly for you!

  4. that slip is so pretty peaking out from under your F21 frock. I don't ever really have to travel for work (maybe an hour drive to a conference) so I have no advice...and usually when I get off a plane I need to shower, nap, and get dressed because I feel so exhuasted and icky after a flight, so I REALLY have no advice.

  8. That slip really makes the dress! It's a really cool way of adding something extra to an already lovely dress =]

The only time I ever travel is when I go on holiday and our first port of call tends to be the hotel. I'm no help to you at all! Sorry!

  9. I ADORE that slip under the dress! It looks fantastic! Meanwhile, I also do my best to avoid any straight from flight to work meetings. I would suggest trousers since they never seem to wrinkle, and maybe bringing along a loose cardigan that can either pass as supposed to be wrinkled, or won't wrinkle when balled. Than throw that on over what you wear, add a belt and you've got a great professional look that will hopefully fit the bill!

  11. Very cute outfit... I'll have to remember the slip trick when perusing F21. Everything is so short on me.
As for traveling, what about a jersey dress with a blazer that you could carry on and slip on when you arrive?

  14. I used to travel in sweats and tennis shoes until I turned 18. "Stepping it up a notch" was an understatement.
Now I usually wear a cotton dress (super comfy) a pashmina, and ballet flats. I'm not sure if that's appropriate for your work, but it's definitely comfortable.
The pashmina can double as a pillow or a blankie. Let us know what you pick!

  15. Gorgeous dress! I love how you paired it with the slip. I would have never guessed it was F21! Good luck with your west coast mini-travel! I know it's so hard to look presentable after a flight or two.

p.s. Thank you for the great taqueria recommendations for the Brookhaven/Chamblee area. I love hearing about new places in metro Atlanta! I so hope to make it up that way before I go!

  16. Ahh gee, that slip looks so pretty.. I think Laura of acc has one of those too? Looks fantastic under your green dress! I don't travel for work purposes...so I haven't really felt the need to change straight after getting off the plane.

  17. I rarely ever travel so I can't help on that accord. But I love your outfit. That slip could do wonders for my wardrobe, lengthening my shorter skirts and dresses. And the details on the sleeves are darling.

  18. That dress is soooo pretty! I never travel for work but when I need to look good and will be driving somewhere I usually just wear a maxi because mine don't wrinkle.

  21. That slip is so pretty! Which style is it exactly? I just special-ordered a black slip from that same Etsy shop--shortened to 19 inches, which means it's non-returnable, so I hope you're satisfied with yours, heh.

  22. That is a great slip! I remember looking through that shop when I heard about it from Laura at ACC...I couldn't decide which one to get. This one is super cute though!

I usually dress for comfort on plane rides. Rayon blends and jersey are pretty safe bets. Have a good flight!

  23. Ah this is so adorable though! Looks gorgeous on you, might be one of my favorite outfits of yours!

  24. This is such a great color on you and I love how you added the trim. I've just started to experiment with layering slips under dresses and so far I'm loving the result! Safe travels!

  25. I'm pleasantly surprised to see a slip, it's almost impossible to find them these days. That dress looks prefect on you and grass green or kelly green are my favorite summer colors.

Thanks for the link I'm going to check the company out right now.

ps. Anything with Rayon or Polyester blend usually wears well.

  26. That's a F21 dress? You made it look super expensive and chic with that slip. Nice move.
