A Krispy Spring Skirt

When I went to Anthro last weekend, my eye was immediately drawn to this skirt's bright green color. I tried both an XS and S and though they both fit fine (stretch elastic waist), I ended up getting the larger size because the fit was less poufy (go figure). I can already foresee this skirt becoming a warmer weather workhorse! And of course if has pockets.

I have a new love in life, and it is this milkshake. The BF and I first experience it last year at Flip Burger and instantly fell into lust. It was so good we feared trying to make it home lest we were disappointed, but found this simple recipe online and now are obsessed.

It is sooooo easy and you will get addicted!

4 whole scoops of vanilla ice cream
1/4 cup milk
2 whole regular glazed Krispy Kreme donuts

Place your ice cream and milk in a blender and add in one to two donuts. Frappe the mixture until it is nice and creamy but with a few chunks left. (You could add the donuts after a few seconds of mixing so it will be chunkier if you like it.)

Lisa's notes: I mixed all my ingredients together at one time and it was great. I added a little bit more milk for a smoother consistency. This recipe is enough to make two small shakes.

Make sure you have additional donuts for garnish and dippers, 'cause you might as well go big or go home - ooh so sinfully delicious, you must try this!

  1. Emerald green and white is one of the "freshest", crispest color combinations ever. You look so...clean! (Not that you look dirty other days, but you know what I mean)
    And the KK milkshake....I died a little on the inside when I saw it. I'm supposed to be "eating healthy" -___-;

  2. OMG, you are evil for posting that recipe.

I adore that skirt. I saw Bonnie post a review of it on Small Town Fashionista and I fell in love. It looks gorgeous on you, and I agree...it's going to be a workhorse!

  3. LOVE (!) this whole outfit... so perfect. And question for you, what size do you take in the LEC canvas shirts, how do they run??

  4. Tara / JG - I've had 5 Krispy Kreme donuts in the past two days either in shake or regular form - and I'm *supposed* to be eating healthier myself! But the shake is almost kind of worth it ... nom, nom!

E Hayes - I take my regular J Crew shirt size in the LE Canvas shirts and the fit is pretty similar, and has been pretty consistent. So I am a 2 in both JC and LEC tops. Hope this helps!

  5. Ok, as if those donuts aren't bad enough! LOL Looks delicious as a shake. Those things are so addicting.

As for your outfit, perfection. I love the skirt with those tights and shoes. And that necklace is beautiful. I can see where you'd use that skirt a ton. I would too!

  8. This milkshake looks so gross with smashed up donuts, but I love their donuts so I'm trusting ya that it's good :) hahaha
LOVE this skirt! It looks great paired with this crisp white blouse.

  13. Oh my gosh, that milkshake! It's almost worth mentioning first before how cute you look in this outfit! =) That skirt is perfection on you and I love how you've paired it with a classic white top. You look super cute!!! And seriously...that milkshake...OMG YUM!

  14. damn, a krispy kreme milkshake. i thought the samosa milkshake was the weirdest (and yummiest, obv!), but this is like whoa.

  16. oh my gosh...I had to scroll by that recipe so quickly because while it sounds delicious, I do NOT need to eat that.

And I love that skirt - I haven't tried it on yet because I'm convinced I wouldn't be able to leave without it!

  19. Such a cute skirt, plus pockets? It was meant to be. That shake looks too good. Thank goodness we don't have a krispy kreme because I would want to try it!

  20. I love that skirt on you and we all know how you love your snack pockets! :)

OMG that shake is something Chris will faint over.

  23. That skirt is a beautiful color! I am interested in that milkshake it sounds sinfully good!

  24. Leah - it IS kind of gross with sugar and fat ... but if you try it, you'll forever be changed, bwahahaha ...

Kristen - I foresee you ladies getting way sick of seeing this skirt, haha!

CT Cupcake - I tried the my reg size first and the skirt was way poofy. I kind of didn't like it - and then I tried one size up and magically it didn't over-poof. Go figure - but isn't poof in for spring? I've been seeing a lot of full skirts and even full midi-length skirts rolling around!

tastymoog - I had tried a toasted marshmallow shake first a few months ago because marshmallows are one of my fave things but it was blech! This one, came out deliciously sugar-y perfection!

Kim - I'm not consuming any junk right now either - that's apparently working out well for me, haha!

Lisa - part of the reason why it took so long for the BF and I to decide to try it - we both love LOVE Krispy Kremes but never go, because we can't get out of there without at least a dozen and then they're only good for like a day! So I guess I try to away from the food I love? ;o)

Steph - a lot of supermarkets, convenience stores and gas stations now carry Krispy Kreme - bwahahaha!

triciathomas - I think your kids and the hubby would dig it!

  25. Yum - milkshakes I can do. :)

What a pretty skirt and this is a great 'spring transition' outfit. It's fun to see more green for spring.

    ReplyDelete
  26. Lisa, I love this skirt! The gold accessories are a great touch to the green. Perfect for the upcoming St. Patty's day?

Why oh why did you have to share the Krispy Kreme shake!?!?!? It looks DELICIOUS. And fattening :) But I will try it soon.

Re the necklace: I vote for big too! And blingy, haha. I remember seeing an exact version of my necklace at Ann Taylor outfits over New Years for $30. I don't know if they still have it though, but will keep my eyes out for you!

  27. oh yes lisa that skirt was a must have. i can totally see you wearing it into spring and beyond. very crisp and clean. and ps, um, is that a donut?? oh why oh why can i not escape the carbs?? is it krispy kreme??

no don't answer. i have to somehow do a mental erase. i've got issues!

    xo,

  32. Anthro-faux-ologie = I love it! Your skirt really brightens up your entire outfit, such a nice color. Oh boy, my bf is a huge milkshake fan and he will love the idea of a doughnut milkshake ... WOW genius. I love the idea! I always add ice cream in my shakes too, I hate adding ice.

  33. Lisa, you hit the nail on the head with that skirt- I think it is perfection on you! And I am flabbergasted you are making Krispy Kreme milkshakes in your Vitamix!!!! You should be making Green Smoothies!! (That looks wonderful - I wonder how long till KK gets gluten free doughnuts?)

  34. You make me feel WEAK for that skirt! I love the gorgeous shade of green, you look fantastic in this pretty, pretty, pretty!

  39. I had to read that recipe twice. OMG. I would totally blend a Krispy Kreme in a milkshake and suck it down!

I don't wear a lot of green myself, but I love seeing it on others, esp this brighter shade (than camo green). I like the pleats in it.

Shake. Shake. Shake! I need that shake.

  40. OMG a Krispy Kreme milkshake?!?!? I think I love you :P Love your outfit esp. the necklace, I wear all my button up shirts with pants and end up like some stuffy old man if I don't accessorize. Wish I could wear a skirt, but it's still too darn cold!

  41. i'd skimmed your blog entry earlier, assuming i'd just go on with my day and forget all about it. but no. since then, i CANNOT STOP thinking about this recipe. i MUST have it.

  42. green with envy, oh yes, from the gorgeously simple and gloriously green skirt to the doughnuts, to the sweetly perfect Raines heels...sigh...

I love the necklace with the white too!

    ReplyDelete
  43. Can't wait to try out your milkshake!...(as I wipe drool off of the laptop) Lol Looks so easy to make - thank you for sharing!!

    ReplyDelete
  44. You've given me an excuse to eat donuts AND ice cream in one sitting. The impossible has been made possible, and it looks delicious!

And that skirt has resort written all over it. The gathered waist and the horizontal pleating are just too adorable!

    ReplyDelete
  45. Cee - I think UO make also have a version of supernova necklace, so I'll have to check it out and go scour AT. I'm all about finding some neck bling now!

Banhannas - You go! I figure if you're going to go bad with a milkshake, might as well make it rich and good!

Peggy - oh you'd be aghast with all the unhealthy concoctions BF and I try to make on our vitamix! I know, we're not worthy for such a powerful blender!

Elle Sees - I prefer the Anthro at Lenox bc it is closer and I think the store is bigger (i.e., larger sale section). I haven't been to the new location on Howell Mill though - I bet that one rocks too!

chantilly - haha, I know - evil ice cream concoction!

thatdamngreendress - Thanks for liking my necklace - I was feeling all good about it until the BF said it looked like I wearing my own version of a gold medal or the Kennedy Honors necklace!

Callandra - unfortunately it was TOO easy to make, haha!

Jamie - I think the best/worst thing I've ever seen was a friend heat up a cinnamon roll and top it with ice cream for dessert!

  46. That green skirt is so cute, reminds me of the Dorie but with a tie. The milkshake looks divine--thanks for stopping by my blog.

  47. I love that skirt - I've been meaning to (read: consciously avoiding for the sake of my wallet) make a trip to anthro. I'm hoping they have it in other colors. And you are a mean mean girl for bringing that milkshake onto my radar.

  48. You look so ready for spring! I love the beautiful modern green skirt!

  49. Stumbled upon your blog, very cute just like that green skirt!

  50. That gorgeous Gold Necklace is a far better garnish than a Krispy Creme for your Irish outfit. Funny, because Krispy Creme is no longer available in Bakersfield Ca. I love the powdered Sugar with Lemon filling. Yum. And how in the World do you keep your tiny little shape eating a Doughnut Milkshake. Did you and the BF start jogging again?

  51. Two things I must try: (1) that skirt; and (2) that milkshake. Thanks for putting these on my radar :) We don't have a krispy kreme on Oahu, but next time on Maui. It will be my first stop :)
