Hey all, I'm back! Oh you have no idea how nice it feels to be back home - I had a whirlwind four days in Dubai on business plus a lovely 16 hour flight home so I am exhausted! There's nothing like seeing the BF and the pup again - apparently they fought with each other a bit while I was gone. Sigh, what can you do about kids being kids?

I didn't have a lot of time to do much else than work while I was there, but did manage a trip to Mall of the Emirates and the new shopping crown jewel - the Dubai Mall (what do people do when they come to Dubai? Shop and shop!) Here's a random sampling of pics:

The Burj Khalifa by day and night:

The malls in Dubai contain focal points most other malls would never consider - like the Underwater Zoo with a 107ft x 27ft viewing panel, a full size ice rink and the 80ft tall waterfall:

The Middle East's only indoor ski resort - Ski Dubai (it smells like a fridge in there, because - dur - it is!):

And your choice of touristy take-homes and a high-end gold souk:

And beautiful decadent confections:

If you haven't done so yet, there's still time to enter my giveaway! And I'll be catching up with everyone's blogs over the next few days, Insha'Allah!

  1. Welcome back! Dubai looks totally crazy, and I'd be itching to go back home, too, if I had to go there. Sorry about your long flight home.

  3. You look so great! All of the drapey-ness of the cardigan looks so cozy and luxurious.

  4. Welcome back! How do you do it? 4 days of travelling and working and you still look fresh as a daisy! I love that cardigan on you! I'm usually not into drapey cardi's but belting it "makes" the outfit. I'm gonna have to try that trick more.

Welcome home ~ my daughter and I fight sometimes and it drives my husband bonkers...you made me laugh thinking about BF fighting with the dog!

  19. The belted Cardi makes your waist look soooo tiny Lisa. this looks like a relaxing, thank goodness your home, outfit. Dubai! What a different World that must be. I was totally trying to figure that whole indoor ski resort out. Talk about building anything and everything so you never have to leave your city and go elsewhere to experience it. I think they have the, keep your money here, spend your money here, action going on. Glad you are home safe and sound.

  26. We're hoping to go to Dubai later this year to visit a friend, but I think the flight is about 8 hours from here. I know it must be hard travelling all the time for work and you must long for home but I'd love to go somewhere just once. My husband might be off to Carlsbad in the summer, I was literally spitting feathers when he told me!

  27. Dubai looks C-R-A-Z-Y! By "crazy" I mean amazing!!! Too bad you were there on business and didn't get to do too much leisure-time things, but shopping...least you fit that in there right?
Congrats on winning my giveaway...I hope that guy from Shopbop gets in touch with you soon. If you have any problems with it, let me know and I'll contact him for you.

  28. Tien - Dubai was awesome but one of the things that I didn't really like about it? It definitely is ALL ABOUT THE BRANDS there - I've never been to a city before where everyone is so obsessed with status and things!

Closet Crisis - I am glad I was comfy because I passed out cold twice yesterday and slept like the dead through the night! And you'd think with the time difference that I'd wake up super-early this morning - nope! I could've slept some more if I could've!

Eleanor - I think the key thing to do in Dubai is SHOP and the people there are definitely all about that! You ask anyone in Dubai what is there to see or experience and they all mention the malls first!

Ady - I saw this in my closet and thought the same thing - I loved it when I first purchased it and definitely don't wear it enough either!

Laura - Dubai definitely has the money! You wouldn't know by going there though that the economic downturn had hit them hard as well - people rolling around in their expensive cars and shopping til they dropped! It is definitely all about the right brands there!

kristin - pup and I were both super-excited to see each other again, and the BF was relieved to have his pup helper back!

triciathomas - the only things about Dubai's mall that I didn't like was that some of them are sooo massive you spend most of your time lost and then the other half exhausted, haha!

Louise - I hope you and the hubby get to visit Dubai, it is like the Vegas of the ME, sans the gambling!

WILDasaMINK - Thanks so much, I am so excited about winning!

  32. I'm pretty much dying to visit there! Admitting to tid bit of jealousy. But the, "YOU'RE SOOO LUCKY" kind of jealousy. Not the, "Why does SHE get to go" kind!!

    Leaving the House in THIS?!?!
