Paradise Lost

Hey ladies, I'm back! After two exhaustive weeks in Singapore and then Hainan Province, I finally touched US soil again this morning - and blogs were blocked in China, so I had to go radio silent, argh!

I already shared a brief pic medley of my time Singapore, so below is another brief medley of my time on Hainan Province. And yes, though the work part was exhausting, I do have about fourteen mosquito bites on my legs and I am currently sick thanks to the wheezing sniffly gal who sat next to my on one of my flight legs home, it was a fantastic trip and I am so glad I had the opportunity to go.

I've stayed in my share of "holy moly craptastic" to "ain't half bad" hotel rooms. This hotel in Sanya however, was beyond. I could've stayed in my room the entire trip but how could I avoid playing on the beach?! I have never stayed in so nice of a hotel and I am begging our guys to go back again next year - pretty puh-lease!

I've had my share of delish Chinese fare - and then much too much of the baijiu and some just absolutely questionable items as well!

Fashion in the tropical clime of Hainan Province? Um ...

Nan Shan Cultural Park, which is the largest Buddhist preaching site established by the People's Republic, and houses the 108m tall Guan Yin Buddha (taller than the Statue of Liberty!) plus several temples. It is a beautiful, but psuedo-strange environment that is a cross between a Buddhist theme park and actual place of prayer.

And it houses a vegetarian restaurant that specializes in mock meat foods. Good, but slightly weird again!

It'll probably take me a bit, but I'll be catching up on reading all your blogs this week!

  1. Welcome back! I really did miss you! The pictures look awesome. I cannot get over the Guan Yin Buddah. That's amazing!

Take care of yourself and get some much needed rest. Not only to reset your bodyclock, but to take care of any nasty sickness you may have caught being cooped up on a plane. Yuck!

    I'm glad you're back!

  19. Lisa,

Welcome back girl! You have been missed! What's with the blocking of blogs? Good grief!

The BF and I kept zooming in on the Guan Yin Buddha. I love Window 7. what an amazing sight that must have been.

And don't you look the World traveler all decked out and lounging on the sofa in Anthro.

    Get some rest! Laura

  20. Welcome back babe! You look so refreshed and relaxed in that first photo!

Would love for you to say Bonjour at:

  21. Beautiful pics. Looks like a lovely trip. :)

  22. Thanks a bunch, guys! I missed you all too! I didn't realize how much I'd miss the blogee community until I was unable to access it at all for over a week!

Lady Cardi - I wish we could've gone inside the statue but it was closed. I did take about a million pics of the statue from all different distances though - it is so hard to get a good perspective on how large that thing really is!

Cindi - I stayed pretty well, bc I was kind of careful on what I ate. A couple of my co-workers did get a little food-ill though - that's what happens when you've got to try every little thing and it's all new!

Amy - That IS fish-shaped tofu! And we had tofu sliced "meats," tofu grilled "eel," even some sort of mock sea cucumber - I stayed well away from that, real or not!

Laura - it was the only good self-pic I managed to take through the entire trip!

  23. Welcome back, Lisa. Those mozzie bites are the most annoying things in the world. . calamine lotion might help. Get well soon, and looking forward to more new posts!
