Booties for Perilla

Realization this weekend as the BF and I had started leaving our windows and back doors open some times to let in the cool morning or evening breezes - uh, mosquitoes aren't gone yet! So far we've killed four in the house over the weekend, and I'm convinced there are more. Ack - don't those things go south for the winter or something, like to Mexico?!

As for my outfit, I wore this last Friday. Not sure if this really works for fall or if the knit dress is too summer-y in color palette (and too contrast-y with the black?), but comfort-wise it felt fine for 80-degree temps in the SE, and I felt like I wearing jammies!

Dress: Anthropologie Little Yellow Button Perila (worn here before)
Tee: Old Navy
Tights: Anne Klein
Shoes: Vince Camuto Bronco booties (tried on here before)

  1. Aww, I like the dress with the tights and shirt! I bet you could even "fall/winter" it up with navy blue tights and maybe an awesome autumn-y orange coat or long cardigan. :) And UGH, the mosquitoes are still here too! Boyfriend and I made the same mistake of opening up our windows and the little buggers came buzzing in. Loathe.

  2. I'm wearing my Perilla Dress today! The high today was forcasted in the 80s, though - so I've just topped it with a cardi! It does feel like PJs, I just love it!

  3. I think the outfit looks nice and when it gets colder, you can wear it with a black cardigan or even a leather jacket.:D

I hope you are having a great Tuesday!:D

  4. I love it with the black booties! And I agree that when it gets colder a darker cardi would really pull the look together.

  7. eewww mosquitoes! I scar from the bites (you can still see them all over my legs from earlier this summer).

I think this could work for fall, esp if you balance out the color contrast with a autumnal cardi!

  10. Lisa,

The look is you. I would go lighter on the tights and add either a black Cardi or something in the same color range of lighter tights. Light grey. Even Blue would be great.

  11. Lisa, i love what you did here with the perilla dress. I have the perilla too, and sometimes i don't know what to wear it with. The black tights look good, not too overwhelming. I might try white tights with brown boots next time with mine!

  12. Super cute!! That dress looks so comfy and cute!! And the booties totally rock, and I think along with the tights really make it work for fall for me! But I'm not big on seasonality, and if its comfy and cute, who cares! And bummer about the mosquitoes! I hope the rest of your week is great and mosquito free! :)

  13. yes, mosquitoes have a way of finding people to bite when you least expect it!

I'm loving your winterizing of your dress. I think it would look great with gray too.

  15. Good idea for transitioning. That's really cute. When it gets colder you can throw a little cardigan or jacket on over that. A black blazer might look really cute.

  17. I like the contrast with the booties, as well! And for the winter, I think it will be darling with a black cardi on top. Good luck as you travel! I am enjoying staying in a hotel room that is just about the size of my entire teeny tiny apartment!

  18. I love the contrast, bold enough to dive right into fall! The booties with the black tights also elongates your legs. =0D

  19. Hi Lisa,
I wanted this dress so bad when it went on sale for $30 then, I was lil to late... oh well..

You look so cute in it! I think it somewhat had that fall feel to it since the color, would have been a little difficult with navy tho.

  23. Hey gorgeous! I think the dress totally works for fall because of the soft muted color palette. I really like how you have worn it and for cooler days I could totally see it with a pair of gray textured tights, tan knee high boots and a blazer. I luvs!!

  24. I think the dress works well with the top underneath and the black tights. I feel like black tights "autumn-fy" all summer outfits. Like ... a bikini and tights ... I wear that all the time. Just kidding!

I wear a tankini and tights!

  25. I really like the flowers on the dress! It looked like a separate belt until I zoomed in. The bottom part does look lots darker than the top. But I don't think a black shirt under the dress will look right... maybe a darker sweater or jacket over the dress? That's probably too hot for 80 degree weather though =P

  28. Thanks for your comments - your ideas of wearing some black up top to even out the dark bottom are great. Why didn't I think of that?!
