The Antonym to Cognizant

So I've spent a good part of last night between True Blood, Gossip Girl and No Reservations trying to put together a blog post. I wasn't trying to be especially meaningful or witty - I was just trying to find one idea I could type together that would actually make some sense, but all I've got was a whole lot of nothing.

And I spent a better part of early this morning trying to put together that same post but I am at a throwing-my-hands-into-the-air-in-frustration-and-defeat phase. I know I shouldn't blog because I feel like I have to - and I don't feel like I have to, I really do want to - but all I've got at the moment is a bad case of blogger's block.

So as a cheap blog cop-out, I'm looking to you for help. Got any questions you would like for me to answer? Anything you would like to know about moi? What do you do when you're looking for blog inspiration?

And in other "news," here are my OOTDs from the last few days:

Top: Target slub tee (similar here in white - Target sleepwear makes the best casual tees!)
Skirt: NY&Co. abstract print (worn here before - kind of similar online here)
Shoes: Vince Camuto (worn here, here and here before)
Belt: J. Crew skinny metallic
Necklace: Laila Rowe

Top: Anthropologie Iris & Navy Sweetheart sweatshirt (worn here before)
Shorts: Old Navy cotton pleated (worn here and here before)
Shoes: Mossimo by Target (worn here, here and here before - similar-ish online here)

Dress: J. Crew cotton (big sis hand-me-down which I think is a cast-off bridesmaid dress - do you think the color washes me out?)
Belt: Urban Outfitters Deena & Ozzy stretch (worn here and here before - similar online here)
Shoes: Kenneth Cole Reaction Pine-A-Colada (worn here, here and here before)

FYI, I think Google proved my blog is cootie-free now - I no longer see "this site is potentially harmful" messages popping up. Yay for getting out of Google detention!

  1. Absolutely LOVE the first outfit and the pop of yellow in the second is great :)

Here's my Q... Gossip Girl: Blair and Chuck, meant to be - yes? or Blair and Chuck, hells no after what he did with lil' J - no? :)

  2. I love that NY&Co skirt - I think I tried it on back when it was in stores!

I don't think the J.Crew dress washes you out, but it is a funny color...like I feel like it could use some brightening up from an accessory, but I can't figure out what color would go with it! Strange!

  3. You look fantastic, as always! I really love that skirt in the first photo.

I'm so glad Google fixed it! Collette and I were emailing back and forth about it yesterday trying to figure out how to notify you if we couldn't get on your blog in the first place to find your email! Oy.

  4. I love that skirt in the first outfit! The second outfit is really cute too! I think the color of the dress is okay, but it might fun to try it with some tights or something to bring in some more color. And yay for no more blog cooties! (I saw the message too, but couldn't work out how to get through until today, and now no more message for me either!)

  5. My favorite outfit is actually the last one. I love that J Crew dress on you and I don't think it washes you out at all. The second outfit looks so comfortable - I love the pop of yellow.

  6. I really like those yellow Mossimo shoes. I would never have guessed that they came from Target. It really is a great store.

I've got the opposite problem. I'm never at a loss for a blog topic, but feel like they're not put together the way I'd like for them to be because of how much times it takes vs. how much time I have.

My suggestion is to give you similar advice that I received recently. This is a hobby and when it starts feeling like work, you're probably going to be less interesting. Post an ensemble pic only if that's all you've got left to give and on days when you've got something to say, say it. Don't force it. Or try a guest blogger ...

  7. ah ha just spotted your note at the bottom about being cootie free, i managed to get onto the blog trouble free and was just about to reply to your email from yesterday to say it was fixed. Tres bien!

One non-fashion related question; how is the running going?!

  8. I've totally been having bloggers block too!! I like Ebony's advice above. I guess it's better to take a little break than to force it. But...you can never go wrong with outfit photos. I especially like your skirt in the first photo!

  9. I like all of your outfits, especially the first one with that pretty skirt.
I think the questions idea is a great way to inspire interesting posts.
    Here are mine:
How has your style changed over the years? Do you have any style icons that inspire you?
    And here's a fun one --
If you could go shopping with any celebrity for the day, who would you choose and where would you go? Let's assume they're buying! ;-)

  10. I find when I don't know what to say I just talk about my clothes :)

Great looks. I love the casual chic of your shorts look and the dress is gorgeous. I don't think it washes you out at all :)

  11. I love that dress and belt!! Lisa, you always find the BEST blog links! Those Bento boxes were off the hook! I want to know what you are buying at the Anthro sale today!!!

  12. The shoes from Target is such a pop. I tried to find a pair of shoes in similar color this summer, and got no luck. Will have to try again next summer :).

  13. Haha you must have passed the detention card to me because I get those screens now! :)

    Hmm...here's a couple of questions:
    1. What would be the ideal outfit you'd wear?
    2. What made you move from NYC to Atlanta?
    3. What is your outfit when you're just lounging at home and no one sees you?

    Thanks!

  14. You are potentially harmful to my budget! I love that NY&Co skirt on you! Did you pick up anything from the sale today?

  15. What a gorgeous skirt. The colors are just stunning!

BTW, how do you like your VC shoes? I assume you love them, as they've been featured in several outfits. I nearly bought a pair from Beyond the Rack, but I can have such trouble ordering heels online-- I seem to wear everything from a 7.5-9, depending on brand. Thanks for any advice you can offer!!!

  16. Lovely OOTDs! I like the Vince Camuto sandals... very cute!

  17. Lisa, check out the JC leopard flats since you mentioned you were looking for that print. I tried them and they feel great.

  18. Yes, I'd like to know if you were stuck in a huge snowstorm, which store would you choose to be stranded at for two days?

    p.s. Haaate trying stuff too!

  19. Cute outfits!! I don't think the last dress washes you out!!! I sometimes am at a loss for words on posts, it depends on my mood! I would love to see a post or series of posts on "the best of" like your favorite pair of shoes, skirt, top, makeup, hair products you get the idea! I always love learing more about people and what they love!

  20. Hi hunnie!!! SOOOOOO happy that I can see you again!! Melissa is right, we were both worried about you...glad that its all fixed now:)
I love all of your outfits as usual:)
Those shorts are SUPER cute on you:)

    Hugs!

  21. Thanks for hanging with me through my mini-bout of Google blog cooties! Thanks to the ladies who contacted me about this problem and gave me the heads up - and thanks to the rest of you for bearing with me!

E Hayes - holy cow, why has no one done a Gossip Girl post after the season opener last night?!

Ashley - I know what you mean. I think the JC is really pretty dress but I'm have difficulty pairing the color with anything else - all I could think of was black!

Thanks, Ebony. Is it weird then that I want to blog, but am just out of anything to say? I guess I am having a brain fart moment? Maybe I should stick to just my outfits for a bit, per rec of Kelly and Eek.

Louise - I'm going to need to do another post soon (haha, an idea!) about how my exercise regime is going - between all my ramblings about running, going to the gym, etc., etc., you'd think I was in tip-top shape by now! Except I'm not really ...

Thanks for the awesome Qs, Debbie - I'll use that in a future post!

Peggy / Jan - can you believe I've been super-good today and got nothing at the Anthro sale? Bad for you, Anthro, taking away free ship, and thus also my immediate urge to buy your stuff.

Cindi - Oh no! I hope I didn't - but I'm so sorry if it was me! If you haven't already, just go to Webmaster Tools at the bottom of your Blogger Dashboard and see if the Webmaster Dashboard pops up as showing your blog with potential MalWare. If so, you can request a review from Google - it took about 24hrs for Google to clear things up.

Jamie - I'm a new devotee to Vince Camuto! I'm usually a 7.5 and find their shoes TTS - I'll shoot you an EM with some more info!

Rose - Thanks for the info on the JC flats - ooh, leopard!

20 York Street / Tricia - thanks for the Qs and ideas - more stuff for future blog posts!

  22. Melissa / Collette - thanks so much for worrying for me! I was seriously frustrated for a bit - and then scared I could affect the rest of you gals!

  23. Love that great JCrew dress, it's fabulous. I get inspirationally stuck for posts often and sometimes tv does help!

  24. Lisa I love your little red water-colory skirt. It is so adorable!! I'm so glad you're out of google purgatory. I tried to come here 3x yesterday and felt robbed!!

I've been having a breakdown and stress out, but am trying to get back in the blogging game. Ugh

    xoxo,
    Carrie

  26. I'm feeling busy but also blogger's blocky as well. I've decided to see how things go with less (on myself) pressure to post frequently and see if it helps.

I love that sweetheart sweatshirt! I don't know how I have never noticed it before... checking that out right now.

  27. I love the first two outfits, really cute. I'm not sure about the color of that dress on you, but you could always add a small scarf right next to your face to accentuate your skin tone.
