A Yogurt Meeting and Theme Dinner

Nothing beats the Mondays like a sweet treat - a couple of gal friends and I met up for lunch and ended up having froyo as our main course (I heart you, Yoforia. Never leave me). I like half original and half pomegranate with some granola and a ton of fresh mango. Do you like frozen yogurt? If so, what's your favorite combo?

Top: Anthropologie Little Yellow Button Meeting Place tank (no longer online - check stores)
Skirt: A/X cargo pencil (worn here and here before)
Necklace: Anthropologie Jahara (worn here and here and here before)
Shoes: Mossimo by Target wedges (worn a ton - like here, and here and here, for starters)

I got a little creative (at least for me) last night and tried my first themed dinner: an at-home Chinese takeout meal. I used Martha Stewart's beef and asparagus negimaki recipe (OK, so this is technically Japanese - does territorial vicinity count?) for the main course. Instead of thin slicing tenderloin, I got some pre-sliced ribeye from the local Asian mart (thank you, Korean BBQ-ers for making these beautifully pre-sliced meats available). And instead of grilling it, I did it via stove-top on a saute pan. In retrospect, I probably should have grilled it to get the yummy char - but it turned out really well regardless (virtual self pat on the back).

All the little rolls ready to get cooked - making this was actually easier than the fried rice!

On the side I bought some refrigerated egg rolls (try some of this sweet chili sauce mixed in with this hot sauce and you've got an egg roll's BFF) and MacGyvered together a fried rice (I used Uncle Ben's 5-minute rice but cooked it in chicken stock, some soy sauce, black pepper and a tiny bit of sesame oil, and I didn't have to add any additional seasoning when stir-frying).

And dinner! As you can tell, I can't "dress" a plate to save my life.
But it is good - I promise!

  3. I love frozen yogurt and thank goodness for the copy catters of Pinkberry that I can enjoy it in Seattle as well. My favorite is original with almonds, strawberry and mochi!

Love the tank on you. You got it from back order right? Cause mine just came last week too. I had a weird time trying to match with it though. I guess nothing really matches except for something white???

  4. Thanks, Marie - you're a girl after my own heart with that froyo comment!

    Thanks much, Eek!

Cindi - I have to admit, I think Pinkberry is definitely the best but we don't have any in the SE. Yoforia has stepped in nicely to fill the void though, and I love that I can load as much as I want in the tub.

As for the tank, yeppers, I got it on BO last week too! My skirt is actually a light khaki but it looks white in most of the pics. I think the tank may work well with yellow or reds too, but the light almost white was my first grab!

  5. Thank you for stopping by my blog and leaving me such a sweet comment.

The dish looks delicious! I use a lot of soy sauce in my cooking--probably way too much heh, however, I very like its flavor. Sometimes I substitute soy sauce for salt.

  8. I had FroYo for lunch today, too!! Our place here in NC is FreshBerry, so I had the FreshBerry tart yogurt with raspberries, crushed graham crackers, and Reeses Pieces - soooo good!! I also really like the tart yogurt with strawberries, kiwi, and chocolate chips :)
The dinner you made looks fantastic - I'm hungry now :) And you of course look fabulous!

  10. What a great outfit! That shirt is fantastic and I love the pop of yellow in the shoes!

Frozen Yogurt is AWESOME. We have a few places in Orlando like Menchie's, Yogurtopia, Fresh Berry. I usually end up with some kind of cheesecake or coffee flavored and then I add cheesecake bites. I should really try to find a healthier option!

  11. Looks like you and I were both on a sweet treat high, except mine was chocolaty. :)

Those beef and asparagus wraps look so yummy! I'll have to try that recipe. When it comes frozen yogurt, I love just plain vanilla.

  12. Thanks for commenting, Sydney. I used to use soy sauce way too much too - one my fave (i.e., easy and cheap) meals in college was rice mixed with soy sauce. Poor gal's fried rice.

Thanks much, Elaine! Now if I can only make a simple white tee and denim skirt look as classic and chic as you do!

Thanks, Spiffy. Yeah, the TANK got a thousand compliments, haha. No, it actually did! It was very gracious though.

Thanks, Erin - ooh, strawberry and kiwi are one of my normal combos too. So delish!

    Thanks for visiting, Debbie!

Thanks, Melissa - frozen yogurt is pretty healthy, so I'm figuring that toppings are all low cal and fat free - ahem, ahem.

Thanks, Liz. The BF likes the vanilla flavor topped with strawberries - simple but the flavors are yum!

  13. Ummm, you can cook me dinner anytime!! That looks scrumptious :)

I'm a total frozen yogurt addict too, I love all these self-serve places cropping up. My favorite combo is pistachio or vanilla with cookie dough :)

  23. Goldenmeans - I definitely need to vary my yogurt flavors more. They've got peanut butter and cookies & cream at the Yoforia, why haven't I tried them yet?

    Thanks, Pamela!

Thanks, OneCraftyFox - you can come over for dinner but don't raid my closet - you may never be able to find your way out of the abyss!

    Thanks so much, Lisa!

Thanks, Jan - and especially so about the compliments about my dinner, even though there's green stuff in there! :o)

Thanks, Ashley. I think these are TTS to even a smidge large - I wear a XS in Little Yellow Button tops and a S in Deletta tops, if that helps. I got this in an XS and I think it's got some give, especially if the wash ends up shrinking it a bit. I think you should get the top - the cut somehow makes me look like I have curves!

    Thanks, Valerie!

Thanks, Elle - this Yoforia opened a few weeks ago in Brookhaven. It's a block away from Verde, a really good taco place and that block's now got a couple of cute stores to browse around in.

Thanks for visiting and commenting, Charlie!

Thanks, Jessica - I love YOUR shoe collection - and Tricia's!
