Unveiled Globe

"Unveiling" a new skirt today (get it - because of the top? what, still not funny?) which is has fast become a new favorite of mine only partly because it's got an awesome elastic waist and snack pockets. I would've gotten the yellow version too, if it didn't have a questionable green-y tinge.

BF and are going to paint the town teal tonight and go on a date - which I think includes dinner and possibly another activity too, which means we may not get back home until after dark! And on a school night too! (Hey, when you end up in a long relationship with someone, date night suddenly becomes a rare thing - and going out on a weeknight to do more than "grab a bite" is a big-ish deal too. Wow, when did I get all old?)

Top: Anthropologie Deletta Unveiled (worn here before)
Skirt: Anthropologie Edme & Esyllte Circle the Globe
Belt: Anthropologie City Safari (now in heavy rotation - worn here and here and here before, for starters)
Shoes: Indigo by Clarks Edamame (worn here and here before)

Now I've got a question for you: What do you think of this outfit?

I put this non-work combo together a few days ago and made it as far as to the kitchen before the BF turned me around and asked politely for me to go back upstairs and change. He said it was fine if I planned to stay in that day, but I probably shouldn't go outdoors like that.

I wasn't too hot on this combo anyways, so I refrained myself from calling out BF's lack of fashion prowess. But if I am borderline about to go on some pattern-blind outfit bender, please let me know what I did wrong so as to avoid a future style intervention. Your input could not only save me from fashion mishap, but could save tens of other people why might have to see me on a given day. ;oP

  1. Haha I don't think that outfit looked bad. I would have gone out with it. But that's probably not saying much. Haha!

Isn't the circle the globe skirt great? So comfortable and airy. I love how you matched it with the stripes. I did that as well earlier this week. :)

  2. I am waiting on that belt to go on sale. I love it every time you wear it!

I also love seeing your face!!!

  3. I like it too. I don't know if that's saying much though since I am totally incompetent at pattern mixing! :)

I so wish I had liked the Circle the Globe skirt. That teal is stunning! I hope you have a nice date night!

  4. I really, really like the outfit that got vetoed by your BF. Yellow, black, and white look so crisp and clean together!

  5. I think your outfit looked great. A bigger pattern paired with a tiny pattern always works.

My fiance bought me the same circle the globe skirt for my birthday (next week) and I can't wait to wear it. It looks great with that belt.

  8. I think both outfits are adorable. First outfit is just too cute - I, of course, LOVE that belt to death, and that cute top and skirt and the sandals? Perfection!!

Your second outfit "pattern mixing" is very cute - it was nothing too over the top, and I think you did it very well with the attempt. The colors were perfect and the patterns didn't overpower each other, which is a good start, if you ask me. Next time, be bold and step out with it, girl! Rock it!

  9. I love your circle the globe outfit. The second outfit is good but yea there is something off, I just can't figure out what it is.

  10. I love both outfits!!!! I'm just getting into pattern mixing and it IS pretty bold but not like a crazy bold. I think it works! You can totally rock it.

  11. I don't ever seem to mix patterns -- usually stick to solids w/ one pattern (if any lol) but that was really cute on you! I say go for it if you feel comfortable :) Love the teal skirt outfit too.

  12. WHHAT? Lisa, I love both outfits :-)

Oh, I so wish I could find the Circle The Globe skirt in blue in my size. I still have it on my wishlist in a size 14, but with an elastic waist?? TOOO big. :-(

  14. Thanks, ladies.I always love reading each and every one of your great comments!

Cindi - I am really liking the Circle the Globe skirt. I can see what the hub bub in the blogee community was all about. It's really comfy and one of those skirts that makes me want to skip down the street.

Ady - This belt has been strangely versatile, probably it goes with everything. I always worry about buying Anthro belts full price bc they all inevitably end up on sale, but I've worn both of mine to death already.

Kristen - I look forward to seeing how you style yours. I love the blue, but when I brought it home, I actually had a bit of trouble figuring out what to put it together with!

Mandy / Fallon / sparrowsandsparkles - I think the overall colors of my outfit were complementary, but up close (which is hard to tell in the photo), the little anchors and big flowers just seemed kind of off. Not off enough that it prevented me from putting the outfit together, not off enough that I went back and changed. I guess I didn't interally feel comfortable in it. Can I just get a stylist every morning to pick out my stuff for me?!

Jennylee - I think some of my stores had restocked that skirt because the first time I saw it, there were tons, then there were none, and then I "found" them again. I didn't delay the second time around!

Thanks, Kathleen, Jamie, Liz, spiffy, Elaine and Marie!

  16. I need this belt so bad...I tried it on yesterday at my store, but for some reason I left without it...I might snag it online soon! I personally love your shorts outfit - it's a combo I would feel uncomfortable in, but I think it looks great!

  18. I love that skirt! I also ordered it in the yellow but returned it because of the greenish tint!

  19. Thanks for your great comments, OneCraftyFox, Ashley, Valerie and Tricia!

Ashley - Get the belt! I thought it was way quirky when I first got it but it kind of goes with everything!

Tricia - If it had been a sunny yellow or something more orangey, I think I would've been all over the skirt!

Valerie - Any skirt or dress with pockets automatically gets big thumbs up for me!

  20. You are making me want to buy that version of the Unveiled tank too - it is so cute and looks awesome with the Circle the Globe skirt - LOVE this outfit on you!

And the pattern mixing looks cute to me! I'm matchy-matchy myself, and this doesn't raise my eyebrows, I think it totally works.

  21. I think the last outfit looks great. Now, if I would have seen you out, I would have been thinking to myself, "dang, I wish I would have thought that!!".

I love the unveiled top. I had that exact one in my hands last week and put it back. why? why, I ask you, why!?!?!?!

  22. I love the first outfit, especially the top. You're very pretty!

Re the second outfit, well, I think the colors go together well and the patterns don't clash, so it's fine, especially from a distance. If I look at the photo close up, I guess I can see his point because there's no relationship between the patterns, but it's still cute and summery. I am no good at pattern mixing (and I've tried ugh) but I think you're on the right track.
