Nueva Frontera

I've officially stepped into 2005 today and started a Facebook account. And aside from the several dozen "where the heck have you been, lady?!" posts I've gotten and my e-mail inbox getting irrevocably blown up, I haven't seen a whole lot of use for the application yet. I know that is simply because I am not Facebook savvy - so for you Facebookers out there, why do you Facebook and how do you use it?

Shirt: Banana Republic safari (worn here and here before)
Skirt: Banana Republic factory store
Shoes: Mossimo by Target wedges (worn here before, and a zillion times before that)
Necklace: Anthropologie Nueva Granada - now on sale!
Bracelets: Old Navy enamel & J. Crew studded
Belt: J. Crew metallic skinny

So what's on the dinner docket for tonight? Well I had a green chili chicken enchilada recipe all prepped to go, but what did the BF request - hot dogs. Specifically Ball Park brand Angus Beef Franks - which are pretty darn good and I highly recommend them - but they are still hot dogs. And at least once a week we have to have them. Sigh - boys.

  1. Lovely chic work-appropriate look today. I love it!

I joined FB about 2 years ago. At first it was for the novelty of finding old friends from high school, college, etc. Now I use it as a passive way to still know what's going on in people's lives without actually having to talk to them. Is that a little sad ;)

  2. I almost bought that skirt last weekend! I love it and now majorly regret not buying it- dang!
facebook is basically my way of keeping in touch with my brother... of all the people I am "friends" with, he is one of three people who write on my wall with regularity. He also has two adorable boys so I get to see my nephews when he puts the pics up (since I am so far away) :(

  4. Love the outfit, first of all!! Any sign of the Anthro card yet? :-)

I signed up for Facebook waaaay back when it was just for college kids. Then everyone and their mama got on it. lol. I use it to basically talk people and be nosy. oh, and to talk to people I can't really talk to on a regular basis otherwise. OH and post humerus links to watch while I'm at work and bored.

  5. I am pretty much over daily visiting and posting to facebook, something I think that happens to lots of people after the initial signup. But it's nice at first to see people we haven't seen in a long time. Love that necklace, it's on my wishlist.

  7. that outfit is fab! i love the crisp neutrals and that necklace is great. now i'm going to have to go scout!
hey, i was gonna make chicken enchiladas this week, too! but don't dismiss the dog - throw some bacon on it and add some pinto beans and caramelized onions, and it is no longer a lame hot dog.....

oh, and fb is lame. i'm over it - and i only joined about six months ago. the only reason to have an account is so you can see when all the good retailers (swayandcake.com, revolveclothing.com) throw out discount codes. and they do!

  8. That necklace looks lovely on you! I stayed away because of a negative review on the Anthro Web site, but I'm definitely going to have to reconsider...

  10. FB is excellent for stalking. Not that I do that, but if you were so inclined to see what someone you have no interest in actually talking to.

I love your skirt! It is a perfect summer work skirt.

  12. This is so pretty! Simple and clean with enough details in the shoes and accessories to really make the outfit interesting.

Congrats on the FB account. I have one too but never really have got much use from it.

  13. Lovely outfit, well put together. Make sure to set your privacy settings in facebook so that people or employers can't google you.

  15. I love this outfit! I love that skirt!

I have a FB account but only use it to check in with friends out of state and "friend" stores I like. I hardly ever post anything on it myself.

  16. love this outfit! I've had facebook for a while now - 5 years? - but it really started getting popular right when I was a freshman in college, so I'm really the original target audience. Since graduating school, I mostly use it to stalk people and see what they are doing with their lives, but also to banter with friends instead of calling them. It's a good way to keep in touch with friends who aren't close enough to call all the time, but you don't really want to lose track of.

  17. I love this outfit! I think I need to get that necklace asap:)

Funny, the hubby asked me if we have hotdogs and homeade cracker jacks in honor of the All Star game. I'm sure he was kidding though....I think:D

  18. I also have a FB account and use it often to follow up with friends that I've lost touch with on a more personal level. I use it to store my blackberry photos that I take just randomly as well. I know certain people that are so against social media, it's not even funny. It's like they want to start a revolution. But i like it a lot, I think it brings people closer to one another in a different way.

  20. I love reconnecting with old friends on facebook but that's pretty much it. My fiance could eat hot dogs every night for dinner, I'm pretty sure lol. I am attempting to go vegetarian (this will not last long I'm certain) but our dinner tonight is tofu with steamed vegetables and basmati rice.

  22. Thanks for your comments, ladies, especially about FB. I finally joined so I can see the pics of my little nephew as my big sis posts them now on FB instead of the Kodak Photogallery. Plus I found a wonderful new (to me) application for FB today - games! I've already wasted way too many brain cells playing Bejeweled Blitz.

Kcookski - bacon on my hot dog?! That sounds like a heart attack heaven, I must try sometime!

Lesa - I JUST joined FB so I figure I am probably a good year or two out before I join Twitter. ;o) Though, I doubt anyone would care where I am or what I'm thinking throughout the day.

Thanks for visiting, Janice. My sis told me the same thing - so yes, I think I am all securitied up on my account.

Thanks for visiting, Courtnee. My BF is a big Cracker Jacker, though I've upgraded him to the caramel corn from Fresh Market recently. Boys love their "boy" food.

Thanks for visiting, Style ninfa & KB!

  23. Thanks, Tippy! I went vegetarian back in high school for a year, but the lure of meat drew me back in ... my BF can also eat hot dogs about every night, though he may switch it up a bit and throw in a hamburger every now and again, if it were up to him!

    Thanks, Melissa!
