Purple Salad

So have any of you ladies partaken in Anthro's sale so far today? I had the Castle Lake Dress on my wish list, but I've been good (OK, partly-mostly because everything I really really want won't be going on sale any time soon and I'm mentally bargaining with myself on whether or not to bite on that stuff. Oh head games. Now if I could just ransack Rosa's closet on new arrivals, that would really just solve the whole issue. :o)

Here's my OOTD. I had a really hard time getting dressed this morning. I recently purchased this skirt and felt the urge to wear it but I had little to no idea on what to wear it with. I ended up going the really safe route and super-matchy matched. I think I am a little more dressed up than I wanted to be, but oh well for today.

The skirt is cotton with an elastic back - really light-weight and I think it will be really nice for summer. You gals have any idea on what I could wear with it?

Sweater: Anthropologie Tabitha Spilling Ruffles cardigan (worn here before)
Top: J. Crew tissue cami
Skirt: Anthropologie Edme & Esyllte Royal Poinciana
Necklace: Urban Outfitters multi stone bib (worn here before)
Shoes: Nine West Temani patent leather wedges

  1. I like the outfit as is... but, if you want to mix it up I think a brown cardi, or camel/cognac would look nice too in place of the one you have on. or if you were to keep the actual clothes the same as they are here you could maybe do nude or metallic (gold or bronze) sandals or shoes and a pop of mustard for the necklace or a bag.

  2. Despite the fact that you think it's too matchy-matchy, I love this outfit. It looks great. I'm totally obsessed with your cardi!

  4. I started to post a comment and it disappeared! Odd. Anyway, your skirt is beautiful. I got stuck this morning trying to figure out what to wear, so I know how you feel, but I think your outfit is great. You could also wear the skirt with a green or pink top, although that would be very matchy too.

  5. How beautiful is your outfit today??! I love it. It's not too matchy- it's perfect, actually. You could get away with paiting that skirt with any of the colors in it- greens, tans, cognac, even. Or maybe pair it with a solid but dressy navy top?

  6. I love your outfit even if you played it safe (that's what I usually do :-) ). It's a really pretty skirt and I see why it's sold out in my size online.

  8. Well, I must be a snooze, because matching is oh, only one of my favorite things ever (hello, 3 kids wearing head to toe Gymboree most days - lol) Love your pretty new skirt - it looks beautiful the way you pulled everything together!

  9. I am a pretty big fan of matchy matchy mostly because I don't have the eye for color and textures like a lot of other (more fashionable) bloggers do, but I'm trying. I think you outfit is perfection- soo very pretty!

  12. Gorgeous skirt and I love your look today! Matchy matchy always works, I think it would look good with some neutral shoes as well :)

  13. Thanks for all your feedback, ladies! For some reason when I think of matching things, Clinton and Stacey's voices run through my head, telling me "it doesn't need to match, it can 'go.'" Then I think like I'm not supposed to do it or something. My rationalizing is crazy sometimes, no doubt about that.

  14. Your whole outfit is cute! I have to be more regular about hitting Anthro for sales – whenever I go the Chicago Anthro fans have cleaned out the racks and my sizes are never there.

  15. I adore this outfit! The bold color of the cardi works so well at balancing out the soft floral print of your skirt (which, I LOVE btw...great find!)

  16. Oooo, I really like that cardigan with the skirt! It matches, sure, but it's not OVERLY matchy. I like! You could definitely pair it with a bunch of colors, like navy (because navy goes with everything, really), yellow, mint, brown, gray, etc. I can see it being quite versatile! Do you have a dark gingham-check buttondown shirt? If so, I bet it would look awesome with the skirt too!

  18. Thanks, E - I don't usually make it to my local Anthro until the weekend and the local anthroholics have stalked through the racks by then, so I totally agree. And apparently I'm too keep to pay for shipping on sale items online, ha.

    Thanks, Cat!

Thanks, Amy. Ooh, gingham with the floral - how bold ...

    Thanks for visiting, T!
