"Blog, Blog, Blog."

Anjali celebrating her 300th blog post today, Eek's 1,000th post in April (that's some dedication), and my recent 100th+ post (I'm such a newbie - but don't forget about my giveaway!) got my mind twirling about blogging in general. Heck, I didn't even really know what blogging was all about until August or September last year, and I didn't realize the community that was out there until a few months after that!

I enjoy blogging because I think it gives me an outlet to find like-minded people to share tips and ideas. It's a great place to "meet" people I normally would not have had the opportunity to, and provides me with an outlet to expand my bounds on the fashion-front.

Plus I work from my home office, so honestly if it were not for fashion blogging, I may very well be spending every single day in pajama bottoms and baggy tees with crazy bedhead and not care.

I consider blogging to be a recreational activity so I like to keep to "light" topics such as fashion, food, travel, etc. It's a nice break from real-world things. And you ladies are so nice and so fun - it's like having virtual shopping buddies from all over.

So that is me and blogging in a nutshell - Why do you blog? And what keeps you blogging?

OK, my OOTD is not super-exciting today, but I'm dressed(!)
I wish I had a cool lace slip or something peeking out or something. There goes another item for the wish list.

Dress: Old Navy snap denim
Belt: Anthropologie Infinity
Shoes: Mossimo wedges from Target
Necklace: Ebay Anthro-faux-logie
Bracelet: J. Crew studded
Bag: gift from Thailand

  1. Ha, I work from home too, so I know what you mean. I started my blog because I thought it would help keep my attention on my new notion of not dressing like a slob. And it has worked! I'm no fashion plate, but at least now I have incentive to keep trying. And from visiting other blogs I've learned a massive amount in a short time. Fashion bloggers are amazingly nice people, too. As you said, blog world provides a break from real world problems.

I really like that purse from Thailand, very different.

  2. You are wonderful and I love your dress! Blogging helps me utilize my whole closet and try new things with my wardrobe! I totally agree that it is a nice break from the real world.

  3. that is a great denim dress! love. it's hard to find killer denim pieces in shirt/dress form. that's my current mission!

i never truly appreciated blogging until this past summer. with all the murder, mayhem and general crappiness of the world, it's nice to have an outlet that's lighthearted and fun. that said, sometimes i wonder if anyone's really paying attention, much like when i talk to my kids...:)

  5. I am home alone a lot. Fashion blogs help me get dressed and make an effort (okay, not every day, but more than I would if I weren't blogging)I also think that almost everyone in the fashion blogging world are really nice people. Since I don't have a lot of contact with a lot of people, this is really important to me.

  6. Great look today! I love those yellow sandals!

Blogging is a funny thing...I started out just rambling about day to day stuff...as a way to let friends and family know what we were up to...and it's evolved to now focusing more on what I am wearing :)

I have really loved seeing other people out in the world as obsessed with clothes as I am (or have I become more obsessed when seeing other people? hmmm...)

  7. I'm working at home now too and I have to schedule lunches with friends once in a while or else I'd be in jammys all the time too! Haha. Hey just call it your uniform. ;)

  8. Thanks, Lady Cardi. The purse was a souvenir (sp?) from my sister when she went to visit. It was a cheapie but I've had it for years and kind of love it.

Thanks so much, Melanie. I definitely need to utilize my closet more - the "bad" part of blogging is all our enabling on the shopping front!

Thanks, Kcookski. I know what you mean sometimes about people "listening." And then sometimes I worry about whether or not I'm writing something worth reading!

Thanks, Peggy - yay, definitely enter, please!

Thanks, Lesa. The bad part of working from home is that sometimes it gets really busy and you don't realize for a while that you haven't left the house for days!

Thanks, Eek. I definitely feel like we've all enabled each other to be a little "more" obsessed than normal with fashion. But fashion is fun, right? And I love your "ramblings." You and the hubs always look like you're having a ton of fun. And seeing how fit you and some other bloggers are out there has inspired me to re-start my exercise regime!

Thanks, Amy! Thank goodness that my company doesn't videoconference! I totally agree with you, I sometimes have to remind myself that it is OK to take a break, have lunch, see friends, etc. I definitely feel like I work a lot more from home than when I was in an office.

  9. I agree that blogging is a great way to find like minded, fashionable people and it's such a great source of inspiration! I started blogging a little over a year ago and I had no idea a community full of j crew and anthro lovers existed, i absolutely love it!
